A Message of Support from the Honourary Patron for “Seize the Clay”

Support of the Arts is an imperative. It is through the arts that we essentially determine who and what we are as individuals and as a community. I firmly believe that success in artistic endeavors is when the triumvirate of Collector, Creator and Connector are in equilibrium. The Seize The Clay campaign is a creative catalyst in ensuring such a relationship.

It is a pleasure and an honour to have been asked to be Honourary Patron for the Seize The Clay Campaign to establish a bricks and mortar venue for the creation of ceramics in London. The energy that we expend today in educating the public to the merits and value of Contemporary Canadian Clay will ensure its continued existence. The Seize The Clay Campaign is a step in that direction.

It is the support and encouragement of those who provided me with the fruits of their labours and those who purchased them that enabled me to grow into the largest contemporary ceramic gallery in Canada. I was blessed with opportunity. I firmly believe that opportunity is the springboard for success and with success comes responsibility, the responsibility to provide opportunity.

London is already a mecca for collectors. The London Potters’ Guild is working to make it a mecca for makers. Supporting the Seize The Clay campaign will provide the opportunity to make a dream a reality.

In closing I would like to say I support wholeheartedly the venture and believe it has the potential to be an incredible creative arts incubator for London. It has the makings of a true destination for many of our talented craftspeople and a valuable asset to the creative city we aspire to be.
