Learn to make pottery with simple shapes and forms; develop techniques to simplify slab construction. We will use sketches and templates to plan and create each pot. The final touch will be in the decoration and finishing of the pots.
Children's Clay - Mornings
Instructor: Penni Stoddart Saturday mornings 9:30 to 12
The goal of these classes is first of all to have fun, and then we will learn lots of new skills too! Come and learn how to hand build – pinch pots, coiled pots, slab built pieces and everything in between. We will also get on the potters wheel and have some fun making pots that way. By the end of the 8 weeks you will have several functional, glazed pots and creations to take home. Come prepared to get dirty – wear old clothes or an apron that covers you from your chest to your knees.
Teen Clay - Afternoons
Instructor: Beth Turnbull Morrish Saturday afternoons, 1 to 3:30 pm
These classes will be fun for older students with any level of experience. We will try some of the basic pottery techniques such as pinching, slab building and throwing on the potters wheel. We will glaze and finish all of our pieces. The pottery will be fired in our kilns and participants will come back later to pick up their finished and completely functional wares!
