Winter pottery classes in the new London Clay Art Centre, home of the London Potters Guild
at 664 Dundas Street, began the week of January 17, 2010.
Spring classes will begin the week of March 21, and we will also be offering March Break camps. Share the excitement of learning pottery in a state-of-the-art facility with experienced instructors, eager to work with participants at all levels of experience.
In this session, we offer adult courses for all levels, with a large selection for beginners (based on demand) plus wheel courses, an afternoon combo. Also scheduled are classes for children, teens and a parent and child Class.

Location
All classes are held at the new London Clay Art Centre, 664 Dundas Street, London, Ontario, which is on the Dundas bus line. Parking is at the rear of the building.
Online Registration
We are pleased to offer online registration through the security of Paypal. Use your Visa or Mastercard to securely register for classes online. (more about security from Paypal) Here is how it works:
- Review the classes below, and choose the class or classes you would like to take. Click the Register Now! button to choose a class. (You can remove it later if you change your mind or make a mistake.)
- When are ready to pay for your classes, click the View Cart button.
- You will be directed to Paypal's secure website, where you can set up a Paypal account in a few easy steps. You will enter your Visa or Mastercard number and expiration date.
- Paypal will notify the London Potters Guild of your registration, and your payment will be sent to the Guild too

Snail Mail Registration
If you prefer to register by mail, send the class name, dates and time, along with your name and phone number, with a cheque written out to “The London Potters Guild” to:

Cheques may be post dated to the starting date of the course. Registration is completed once payment has been made. Students will be accepted on a first-come first-pay basis.

Adults
Members $170 + GST $8.50 = $178.50
Non-Members $190 + GST $9.50 = $199.50
Children and Teens
Children and Teen classes (Saturdays) $120 (no GST)
After School Pottery $90 (no GST)
Parent-Child class $195 (no GST) - one adult and up to 2 children
All fees include a $25 materials fee
Note: Adults are encouraged to purchase their own tool kit at $15, tax included.
Refund Policy
To withdraw from a course, you must notify the Program Administrator at least two weeks before the course start date for a complete refund. Within two weeks of the class start date (and before the course has started), 50% of the fee will be refunded.
There will be maximum 10 students in a class. Should there be less than 6 students registered, the class will be cancelled, registrants notified, and money refunded.

Beginner's Pottery
This is a comprehensive introduction to working in clay. Over the course of eight weeks, participants will learn basic hand building techniques such as pinching, coiling, soft slab building, hard slab building and press moulding. Students will also be able to try their hand at the potter’s wheel, and will learn the basics of using this tool to create their own pieces. In addition, students will glaze their work and end with a collection of their own finished pieces.

Beginner's Pottery

Beginners and Beyond - I
This is a class for everyone. The class will look at each student individually to develop or refine their skills. If you have never touched clay, need a refresher or want to push yourself this class will help you. We will be concentrating on the wheel, with some time given to handles, trimming and glazing. You can expect some fun, some education and 8 to 10 finished pieces by the end of the 8 week session. Hope to see you there!

Beginners and Beyond - II
If you have not recently taken a clay course or you need a refresher, then this course is for you. Students will learn basic centering and throwing techniques, trimming, and basic glazing. Students will also learn the basics of hand building and the use of molds and forms. Students will glaze their own work and can be expect to take home 6 – 8 finished pieces.

Wheel 101 - afternoon
This class will concentrate solely on throwing on the potter’s wheel. It is a great course for those with a little clay experience who want to focus on wheel throwing, or for students who want to continue to improve their throwing skills.
We will practice making the basic pottery forms, such as cylinders (mugs), bowls and plates. Students will learn more about the finishing techniques of trimming, slip decorating, glazing and kiln firing. You can expect to leave with 8-15 finished, fully functional pieces.

We will also try to create something on the potter’s wheel! Pieces will be finished with slips and/or glazes, then fired. Participants will come back later to pick up their finished and completely functional wares! Expect to bring home lots of treasures! Your teacher has over 13 years of clay experience and has teaching experience with the Thames Valley District School Board.
